Welcome!

We are an academic research group with strong industrial links. We develop, apply and translate synthetic biology technologies to harness the potential of microbial metabolism and achieve impactful living technologies.

News
We recently moved (mostly) from Imperial College London to The University of Nottingham!

The group
We are a team of research scientists based at The University of Nottingham and Imperial College London, led by Dr John Heap.

A video introduction
John's presentation at the World Economic Forum gives a short (5 min) non-specialist introduction to some of our research interests and motivations.

Vacancies
We advertise funded opportunities on the University website (click here) and twitter (click here). We are also happy to hear from suitable excellent researchers with (or seeking) independent research funding who are looking for a host lab.

Our affiliations
Our affiliations both inside and outside our home institutions, The University of Nottingham and Imperial College London.
